Foundations in Heirloom Seeds
One of our foundational guiding principles here at Kitchen Garden Expert
is to use heirloom seeds.
What is an heirloom seed? An heirloom seed is a seed that has been carefully grown
and saved and passed down from generation to generation for over 50 years.

The value of this type of seed is in the plant’s characteristics such as flavor, productivity, hardiness or adaptability.
Heirloom seeds are open pollinated which means they produce seed through natural pollination such as self pollination or pollination from insects, birds, or other natural ways like wind.
The best part about heirloom seeds is there is no alteration of the seed which means it is almost an exact copy of the parent plant! If by chance there are any differences in the plant, they can usually be attributed to the impact of the weather, nutrient deficiencies in the soil, or inconsistencies in care of the plant.
