Planting for Fall: The Basics.
We're a little over halfway through the summer growing season. Our summer harvest has been happening for a few weeks. So now what?! How about getting ready for fall planting? Sounds strange, but if you want to have your gardening extended to at least the first frost date, you must plan and do things to move in that direction!

Here are "The Basics" for fall planting to keep in mind.
Make a list of what you'd like to grow.
Look up your zone's first frost date.
Buy seeds.
Find the maturity date on back of seed packet.
Add 10 days to your maturity date (i.e. 50 + 10 =60) Adding the extra 10 days takes into consideration that the days are starting to get shorter which means that the hours of sunlight are starting to decline too!
These simple steps will not only help you to discover if it's realistic to plant certain plants, but it will also give you a better chance at success because you will "know that you know" what to plant!
